Baba Maharaj Satarkar: Baba Maharaj Satarkar was a renowned Marathi Keertankar and Pravachankar. He was born on February 5, 1936, in Satara, Maharashtra. His original name was Neelkanth Dnyaneshwar Gore.

Baba Maharaj’s family had a tradition of Keertan. His father, Dnyaneshwar Dadamharaj Gore, was an excellent Mridangam player. His mother, Laxmibai, was fond of Sant literature. Baba Maharaj inherited the legacy of saints and devotional songs from a very young age.
Baba Maharaj started singing at the Mumbai Akashvani Kendra at the age of 12. He completed his education up to the degree of law. Along with his job as a lawyer, he continued to propagate Keertan.
Baba Maharaj’s Keertan was simple and effective. He explained the thoughts in Santvaani in simple language. His Keertan brought many people on the path of spirituality.
Baba Maharaj performed Keertans all over Maharashtra and India. Devotees from all over the state and the country used to throng to listen to his Keertan.
Baba Maharaj was honored with many awards. He was awarded the “Kalashri” and “Kalabhushan” awards by the Maharashtra government.
Baba Maharaj passed away on October 26, 2023. His demise created a huge void in the Keertan field in Maharashtra.
